Nina received degrees in Art History and in Translation (English, German, Turkish) from the Karl-Franzens-Universität in her native Graz, Austria. She then went on to complete her PhD in Art History at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Following a productive career as Associate Professor of Art History at Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey—which included the coordination of research projects, conference organization, and the publication of numerous articles, several edited volumes, as well as a book on the history of a famous Turkish bath, published by Edinburgh University Press—she returned to the US in 2017.
Nina now works as free-lance writer, editor and translator, while also contributing her research and writing expertise to Health by Principle. When not behind a computer screen, she enjoys California’s great outdoors with her husband; together, they sail, surf, snowboard and kiteboard. She and her husband are internationally certified kiteboarding instructors, and they love to cheer each other on in amateur freestyle kiteboarding competitions. She feels very passionately about leading a healthy lifestyle that balances rewarding relationships, productive work, athletic activity and good nutrition for both physical and mental well-being.
